Rendezvous Dinner 2010

The Warmth of June

By: Mike Faems

The weather was more typical of mid-November than mid-June.  But that didn’t prevent a record number of Yellowstone Region members and their cherished sports cars and SUVs from making it to Teton Pines on June 12th for the biggest event of the club’s year, our annual Dinner and Auction fundraiser.

During socializing and libations, members had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items ranging from massages and oil changes to track instruction, to fine dining, to art work to rounds of golf and even a trip to Mexico.  Where else can you have the opportunity to purchase the services of a noted Bank President and his better half to detail your Porsche?

This was followed by a delicious and lavish buffet for dinner.

Then our President and emcee, Ken Koop, got down to the business of the evening.

This year, for the first time, a major portion of the proceeds of the silent auction are being donated to charity.  Jackson Hole’s Community Resource Center will benefit from the generosity of the Yellowstone Region’s members in the work of providing information, counseling and emergency assistance to local individuals and families in crisis.

Scott Anderson was presented with the Member of the Year trophy for his tireless and very creative efforts organizing just about every Yellowstone Region event of the past year.

We were graced again this year with the presence of our PCA Zone Rep, Dave Cooley, who traveled all the way from Great Falls, MT to share the evening with us.  And deliver a few words about upcoming events and activities, and the special spirit that is so much a part of our five state/two country PCA zone.

Many thanks to the only person who outranks our Club President – our Treasurer Robin Koop — for her dedication and diligence in organizing the evening and soliciting so many wonderful items for the auction and raffles.   She was ably assisted by Nancy Faems, Bobbi Moses and Nancy Clancy throughout the evening, selling tickets and later collecting the winning auction payments.   And as always, Scot Anderson was everywhere, helping.

And even though it was unseasonable chilly and damp outside, we all basked in the warmth of good friends and good deeds.
