The Mass Air Flow Sensor on a Porsche Boxster is the cause of some Check Engine Lights, sometimes, if you are lucky, a quick cleaning will take care of the problem. One of the reasons that the MAF gets dirty is over oiling of a K&N air filter. This video covers the cleaning and if needed, the replacement of the MAF.
Tools Needed to clean or replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor:
- T-20 Security Torx
- Mass Air Flow Sensor Cleaner
To clear the check engine lights on your Porsche after cleaning or replacing the Mass Airflow Sensor, simply disconnect the negative cable on the battery, let the car sit for about 15 minutes, then reconnect. If you have a factory radio, you will need the radio’s security code.
