Fall Tour and Lunch Stop
By: Ken Koop

The morning of our club’s tour to Idaho Falls began with the official sign-in and safety briefing at the Stagecoach Bar in Wilson. Our VP and tour coordinator, Scot Anderson, explained the day’s activities and told us of the fun we were about to have. The caravan of Porsches departed around 8:30 with the route taking us over beautiful Teton and Pine Creek Pass. Fall colors were at their peak, however, they have not been all that spectacular this year. We wound our way up and over the passes and eventually down through the fields to Idaho. Since the route followed rivers the majority of the trip, there were many beautiful sights along the way. The crisp fall air and beautiful blue skies provided a perfect combination for a drive in our Porsches.

Scot led the group to our destination where we joined some of our members from Idaho. After a break in the tour, we had a non club activity where “Mad Man Mike Mielke” and his partner in crime “Scot Autocross Anderson” took the afternoon honors; barely! Just ask me how I know. Following our break, we had a delicious and well deserved lunch at Johnny Carino’s Italian Restaurant. There was much discussion and bantering going on between club members regarding the afternoon’s exhilarating non club activity.

The group split up for the drive back to Jackson. Some went shopping, others drove back passing by Palisades Reservoir and the rest returned over the two beautiful passes we took earlier in the day. Everyone had a fun filled afternoon; how could we not?

Scot did another fantastic job on planning this enjoyable event. Thanks again for another great driving season. We’re already looking forward to next year.
